Amanda and another Slaton sister, Misty Slaton Wentworth, went to see their bariatric surgeon, Dr. Smith, during1000-lb Sistersseason 5, episode 4. He was willing to perform their surgeries, but only after they both quit smoking. Though it wasn’t easy to break the habit,Misty and Amanda were so determined to get weight-loss surgery. Not only did they get the surgery, but the1000-lb Sistersstars were finally able to kick their nicotine addiction.

Funnily enough, David is the brother of Michael Halterman, who was married to Amy. To put it another way, two sisters married two brothers and got divorced. Between her job as a bus driver and being a mother of four sons,Amanda was likely too busy to have another surgery any sooner. With her sons grown up, Amanda found herself single and was finally able to put herself first.
