Wonder Woman#10 Solidifies Itself as an Unofficial PRIDE Comic

After passing out, Diana wakes up to find a campfire and a Cheetah who is no longer trying to kill her. Around the campfire, the ‘women who love women’ themes of this narrative truly begin to soar. The two settle down for a heart-to-heart, with Barbara resting her head on Diana’s shoulder and the Amazon taking her hand as they discussWonder Woman’s current fight against the Sovereignand a world turned against her. During their conversation,Diana becomes defensive about Cheetah’s questions, saying, “You think you know me?” to which Cheetah responds, “I am the only one who knows you.”

This bold claim breaks down the last of Wonder Woman’s barriers, and the Amazon Warrior begins to cry—something unheard of for Diana, especially in front of others. While crying, Diana admits how difficult “fighting everyone” has been. Trying to hide her tears, she asserts that she has to remain strong. At this point, Cheetah takes Wonder Woman in her arms, hugging her close and telling her that she doesn’t have to be strong around her. This emotionally charged moment culminates withboth women admitting that they have spent much of their lives hating each other and the rest loving each other.

Wonder Woman #10 Cheetah biting Wonder Woman’s Neck

Even before the campfire scene, Diana and Barbara’s fight was filled with romantic tension, including a moment where Cheetah bit Wonder Woman’s neck in a way that seemed more provocative and erotic than violent. This issue is full of moments suggesting that King is setting up a romance between the two women, which is especially wild considering thatWonder Woman#9 was dedicated to solidifyingDiana’s relationship with Steve Trevor. This leaves fans with one major question: is Wonder Woman trading her long-standing relationship with Steve Trevor for an iconic romance with Cheetah?
