EDward Gaming have won its first VCT major event at Valorant Champions 2024, defeating Team Heretics 3-2 in the Grand Finals. The Chinese team came into the tournament as the No. 1 seed out of VCT CN, but struggled early, going into the lower bracket in the group stage after losing to G2.
The team rallied in the elimination bracket, however, defeating Paper Rex and then stomping through the playoff stage by taking down Trace Esports, Sentinels, Leviatán, and Heretics.
China only just started its VCT league in 2024 and had to wait until 2022 before a team from the region could showcase their skills on the international stage. Now, a team from the region has secured some major hardware and looks poised to take over the esport.
