Homelander & Ryan’s Relationship In The Boys Season 4 Ominously Teased By Antony Starr: “Some Horrific Parenting Choices”
Summary
Black Noir II’s introduction inThe Boysseason 4 will disproportionately impact one member of the Seven. The original Black Noir fought beside Soldier Boy in the Payback team, though after Jensen Ackles' character disappeared, he would go on to join the Seven and help teach Homelander about how to be a Supe. Unfortunately, he eventually irritated Homelander and was brutally murdered by his former friend after holding back the truth about his family. In season 4, anew Black Noir will joinThe Boys' castand will wear the silent Supe’s suit, and is sure to be a departure from his predecessor, though both are played by Nathan Mitchell.
In an exclusive interview withScreen Rantahead of season 4’s release,The Boysstar Chace Crawford (The Deep) explains how Black Noir II changes the dynamics of the Seven. The Deep, in particular, finds a friend in the new Noir, and the two function as “Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum”. After the bizarre and muted personality of the original Black Noir, it will be a serious departure for the character to stand alongside the hated Deep. Check out Crawford’s full quote below:

Yeah, it was good this year! It was nice because Nathan [Mitchell], the actor who plays him, we were all friends with him. To get to actually have some scenes with Nathan was for me very enjoyable. But it is funny, we’re like Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum now that it’s a different Noir. To have that little back-and-forth just was a delight this year, to be honest. I kind of like to show him the ropes and have that scene where I’m talking about violence. And now I’m remembering, we have [some] funny moments. All that stuff was so much fun for me, and I look forward to it all the time. It was great working with Noir this season, for sure.
Black Noir Will Be Very Different In The Boys Season 4
A New Black Noir Will Wear The Suit
Black Noir’s horrific death inThe Boysseason 3, episode 8, “The Instant White-Hot Wild” left the Seven in a difficult position.Because members of the Seven are constantly dying, Vought’s league of experienced Supes has looked utterly weak. For an organization hoping to market superpowers, having so many heroes die at Homelander’s hands, at the hands of the Boys, and by their own doing, can make their powers appear underwhelming. It also proves just how poorly Vought has been handling its supposed heroes.
The Boys: Every Supe Who’s No Longer In The Seven & Why
The Seven, Vought’s strongest, most famous supes, have had several roster changes throughout The Boys' run, from deaths to dramatic exits.
By pretending that Black Noir never died, Vought and the Seven can avoid the embarrassment of seeing yet another Supe die.The Boysseason 4will see Mitchell retain his role as an actor, but he will be playing a very different version of Black Noir. While Homelander is likely to handpick the newest member of the Seven, the new Black Noir is not going to have the same personality as his predecessor, but instead is likely to be more vocal, less capable, and less experienced. He will also know less about Homelander than the original Black Noir did.

Black Noir II will also have different relationships. While the first Black Noir had few friends, his replacement will be a close companion for the Deep. He will also likely have different powers, different motivations, and an interest in proving himself. There are many details still yet to come withThe Boys' upcoming season premiere. With Vought under Homelander’s control, Black Noir II could be a friend or a secretive foe to the rogue Supe.
The Boysseason 4 will premiere on June 13 on Prime Video.
