James Gunn is sick of fans complaining aboutThe Batman 2and how long it’s taking to get made. In his words, “get off Matt Reeves’ nuts.”
Warner Bros first confirmed TheBatmansequel in April 2022. Over a year later, it was given a 2025 release date, and then it was delayed until October 2026… and then it was postponedagainuntil August 18, 2025.

It’s left fans curious and concerned about what’s been happening behind the scenes; specifically, they’ve been wondering if the film has secretly been canceled andif Robert Pattinson is going to become the DCU’s Batman.
Fortunately, The Batman 2 is still going ahead, and Gunn wants fans to stop moaning about Reeves taking his time with the screenplay.

James Gunn says “get off Matt Reeves’ nuts” about The Batman 2
In a new interview withEntertainment Weekly, Gunn was asked for an update on The Batman 2.
“Listen, we’re supposed to get a script in June. I hope that happens. We feel really good about it. Matt’s excited. I talk to Matt all the time. I’m totally excited about it. So we can’t wait to read the scripts, but we haven’t read it yet, if that’s your question,” he said.

“People should get off Matt’s nuts because it’s like, let the guy write the screenplay in the amount of time he needs to write it. That’s just the way it is.
“He doesn’t owe you something because you like his movie. I mean, you like his movie because of Matt. So let Matt do things the way he does.”

It’s been rumored that Reeves has been dealing with personal issues during the development of the sequel’s script. Reeves may not pay attention to what fans post online, but Gunn said he’s “irritated by people.”
