Summary
Luke CageakaPower Man has gone through some pretty dramatic redesignsover the years, but for the most part, those redesigns have generally toned down his ‘comic book-y’ appearances in lieu of a more understated look. However, that certainly wasn’t the case with Luke Cage’sIron Manarmor, as it came well after his aforementioned ‘casual’ redesign, and stands as his most extreme look to date.
InHunt for Wolverine: The Adamantium Agenda#3 by Tom Taylor and R.B. Silva, Luke Cage, Iron Man, Jessica Jones, and Spider-Man are searching for Wolverine’s body years after his supposed death, when he detonates a bomb to save countless lives. Their search takes them to an underground auction, where they believe Wolverine’s adamantium skeleton is being sold. While they come up short, they do uncover some vital intel that leads them to one of Mister Sinister’s fortresses. But to get there, each member of the team needed their own Iron Man armor - and Luke’s was the most hardcore.

Luke Cage’s Iron Man armor is gold, and roughly the same aesthetic as Tony Stark’s regular suits. That is, until one looks at his left arm, which is a giant mace with a chain attached. As shown in this and the next issue ofThe Adamantium Agendalimited series, Luke is able to use the immensely intimidating weapon to break through walls and demolish his enemies with little effort. Luke Cage was deadly before, but his Iron Man suit allowed him to pack a much greater punch, and one would be well aware of that just by looking at him.
The Iron Man Armor Too Inhuman for the MCU Returns in Epic Cosplay
The MCU included a great number of Iron Man suits in its established universe, except one armor in particular, which came to life in epic cosplay.
Luke Cage’s Iron Man Armor is His All-Time Coolest ‘Costume’
As previously mentioned, Luke Cage’s aesthetic has changed dramatically since his first appearance. Originally debuting as Power Man, Luke Cage wore a yellow shirt with most of his chest exposed, with a silver band on his head and wrists, and a chain wrapped around his waist. Even now, it’s hard to tell if that costume was badass or silly, but either way, Marvel Comics eventually decided that it was time for it to go.
That’s when Luke Cage dropped the ‘Power Man’ moniker and simply went by his own name, which matched the appearance of his updated ‘costume’: whatever outfit he decided to put on that day. Cage all but dropped the ‘hero’ act to become a reluctant vigilante, but even when he joined the Avengers, the street clothes remained. At least, until Tony Stark offered him his own Iron Man suit, which is not only his coolest look to date, but also contains elements of his original costume (gold/yellow color, a prominently-featured chain), which is a fun callback to Luke’s initial design.

Luke Cage’s Iron Man Armor Needs to Return (Especially Post-Gang War)
Luke Cage Became a Masked Vigilante During Marvel Comics’Gang WarEvent
Currently, Luke Cage is the mayor of New York City, which means his days as a superhero are over - though that didn’t stop him from suiting up in an all-new costume to fight in theGang War. Only this time, Luke Cage wore a mask to conceal his identity, meaning he’s not ready to give up being a superhero, he just can’t do so as publicly as before. Therefore, the proverbial door is wide open for Luke to get his Iron Man armor back, as that suit conceals his identity, and offers him major power (and aesthetic) upgrades.
Now is the perfect time for Luke Cage’sIron Manarmor to make its return to Marvel Comics, but even if it doesn’t, the fact that he got to wear this suit at all is a real treat for fans of the character, as it gave readers a chance to seeLuke Cage’s most extreme redesign of all time.
