Wade Wilson triumphed against Death Grip! This is the first issue of a new arc and killing Deadpool NOW would be an INSANE thing to do. Which is exactly why we’re doing it.
It’s a rough time for Deadpool in Marvel Comics right now, as he’s still reeling from the breakup with his most recent romantic partner, Valentine. The solicit teases thatWade will triumph in his current struggle against an evil cult known as The Touch, led by the mysterious Death Grip. However, a further announcement from Marvel says, “Death Grip does the unthinkable inDeadpool#6!” Either way, it doesn’t seem like he’ll get much time to enjoy his victory before kicking the bucket.

Deadpool Debuts Marvel’s Ultimate Anti-Healing Factor Power (Warning: It’s Incredibly Dark)
Deadpool is in for the fight of his life, as his newest Marvel Comics villain just upgraded himself with the ultimate anti-healing factor power.
Deadpool’s Powerful New Villain is Finally Going to Kill Him
Death Grip Has a Power That Can Defeat Wade’s Healing Factor
Deadpool’s current series began in April and sees Wade back in the mercenary game, taking assassination jobs to distract him from his breakup. While on an assignment in the first issue, he encounters a mysterious magic wielder known as Death Grip. While Death Grip is able to repel Deadpool’s bullets with ease and blast Wade’s body in half using magic, he nonetheless is impressed by Deadpool, who actually manages to sneak up Death Grip and stab him in the back.Death Grip views his encounter with Wade as cause for celebration, as he finally meets someone “unencumbered by death.”
Along withhis symbiote daughter/dog, Princess, Deadpool also finds himself teaming up with Taskmaster for his new venture. Taskmaster reveals thatDeath Grip’s cult, The Touch, is filled with “magic-school dropouts and kung fu psychos” who “fancy themselves Iron Fist/Doc Strange types.“Members of The Touch are obsessed with death and have a strong need to conquer it. After sending Crossbones on a failed mission to kill Wade,Death Grip comes into the possession of a Muramasa Blade, a mystical sword that can counteract even the strongest healing factors. Death Grip fuses himself with the Muramasa Blade to become an instrument of death. It’s this increased power that will undoubtedly lead to Wade’s death inDeadpool#6.

As Marvel itself is quick to point out, the timing of this latest comic book death is odd.Wade Wilson’s profile has never been higher than it is right now. His latest ongoing series has just launched, and he’s also starring in a few new miniseries that seehim teaming up with Wolverine and several other Marvel heroes. And that’s not even mentioning his new film,Deadpool & Wolverine, which will see him finally join the MCU. Of course, this is hardly the first time a character has been killed off right around the time of a big-screen adventure. Huge characters like Spider-Man, Iron Man and Ms. Marvel have all “died” in the same year they starred in movies, only to return to life shortly after.
The matter of Deadpool returning to life is not a question of “if” but of “how” and “why” he’ll be resurrected, and what will happen in the meantime. As Taskmaster has recently started trainingWade’s other daughter, Ellie,it’s possible fans will see her pick up the Deadpool mantle for a time while her father is dead. And given Deadpool’s romantic history with Death herself, perhaps she will be able to lend a hand in bringing him back to life. Either way, it appears thatMarvel Comicshas finally found a way to shutDeadpoolup by killing him off.

Deadpool#6will be available September 18 from Marvel Comics.
