Summary

Having found a new and promising life with the Band of the Hawk,Berserk’sCascawants nothing more than to help her leader and savior, Griffith, fulfill his desire to establish his own kingdom. A new mesmerizing cosplay performance brings to dazzling life the moment when Casca believed that her dream was finally coming to fruition - where her hope caught up, if ever so briefly, with the reality of the band’s circumstances.

The cosplay was performed by artist and voice actor Aliya Will, and posted to her X account,@aliyawill. Aliya recreates the ballroom scene inBerserkChapters #46-47, where representatives from the Band of the Hawk, including Griffith, Guts, and Casca, are introduced to Midland’s upper class as well as made part of the elite themselves.

Aliya’s cosplay perfectly captures Casca’s appearance in the scene. Aliya is wearing the same gorgeous white gown as Casca, but the similarities don’t stop there. Outside the uncanny physical resemblance that Aliya shares with Casca, she also includes near and exact copies of the gown’s adornments from the red bow to the golden headdress, making thisone of the best Caska cosplaysin recent times.

Beserk’s Ball Scene Was a Critical Part of the Saga

This Scene Set in Motion the Events of the Eclipse

Aliya couldn’t have picked a better scene from Kentaro Miura’s classic to showcase Casca. It was the first time that Guts and Griffith saw Casca in a dress, and the same goes for the readers. Both fans and in-story characters seeCasca in a dress that contrasts sharply with her usual appearance. Up until this point, Casca was primarily seen in her armor and war garb, just like the rest of the Band members. Moreover, her warrior appearance was further highlighted by her fierce fighting abilities. In other words, it is normally hard to distinguish that Casca is indeed a woman.

However, in the gown, Caska’s feminine side was finally revealed. Not only did she attract the attention of a crowd of gentlemen eager to understand how a woman could be such a powerful warrior, but even Guts was so taken aback by Casca’s more feminine appearance that she had to elbow him to stop staring at her. Casca herself feels the difference as she admits not being against wearing dresses, but that it’s impractical to do so as a warrior. She even wonders aloud about whether her rather masculine physique is in harmony with the demands of her gown.

This Casca Cosplay Shows Just How Important She Was to the Story

The scene also reveals, or more specifically, foreshadows the upcoming tensions to come for the Band of the Hawk. The attention that Casca gets for the gown forces her to retreat to the ballroom balcony, taking Guts with her. While Guts is a bit surprised at first, he gives in. The conversation that they subsequently have is a bit flirtatious but not only shows that both are dedicated to Griffith, but also care quite a lot about each other.

Indeed, even other members of the Band of the Hawk in attendance sense there might bea spot of mutual attraction between Guts and Casca. Of course, a handful of chapters later, Guts and Casca become intimate - which turns out to be a key consideration inGriffith’s ultimate betrayal during the Eclipse.

Aliya’s choice of this scene to cosplay shows a great understanding of the character. Not only does she reveal her artistic talent as a cosplayer, but she also highlights one of the more memorable scenes in theBerserksaga that stands out as the beginning of the circumstances that lead to the obliteration of the Band of Hawk as well as the “happily ever after” dreams of Guts andCasca.
