Summary

The nextPokémon TCGset and some of its first cards have been leaked and they hint at an interesting new gameplay mechanic that may change the current state of the competitive meta. TheTrading Card Gameis continuously gaining expansions with new cards that keep it fresh and allow for innovative deck-building (and more card collecting). Most sets are first released in Japan and then adapted for the Western market, as is the case with therelease ofPokémon TCG: Shrouded Fable, which will adapt a portion of theNight Wandererset.

Now, the next expansion has been revealed. As seen in a report byPokébeach, the next EnglishTCGset will be calledStellar Crown, and it will be an adaptation of the previously reported Japanese set known asStellar Miracle. According to the report,Stellar Crownis set to release on September 13in the West, followingStellar Miracle’s release in Japan in July. As is indicative of the expansion’s name and Terapagos as the mascot, the new set will focus on the introduction of the Stellar Tera type toPokémon TCG.

Pokémon TCG Stellar Miracle - Release Date, New Cards, & Sets

The new Stellar Miracle expansion for Pokémon TCG has been confirmed and more details, such as the release date, have been officially revealed.

Stellar Tera Type May Be A New Mechanic In Pokémon TCG: Stellar Crown

Gameplay May Change With The New Mechanic

In addition to the reveal of the set’s Western name and its release date, the report also features two of the upcoming cards in the set.The first is a Terastal Terapagos ex, while the other is a new ACE SPEC card called Sparkling Crystal. According to the card’s page onSerebii, it will reduce the Energy cost of attacks executed by the Terastal Pokémon it is attached to. The most notable aspect of the cards’ reveal is whatPokébeachreveals: theStellar Crownexpansion forPokémon TCGwill introduce a new gameplay mechanic.

“Stellar Tera Type will not be exclusive to Terapagos.”

According to the outlet,Stellar Tera Type Pokémon cards will have powerful attacks that cost multiple types of Energy. This seems to indicate that these types of cards will rely less on the Pokémon’s usual typing and be a wider mix of Energy, reflecting how Stellar Type works in thePokémon Scarlet and Violetvideo games. Terapagos ex should be one of these Pokémon. As seen on thePokémon TCGcard’s page onSerebii, the attack called Crown Opal uses a Grass-, a Water-, and a Lightning-type Energy to be performed.

Of course, as is the case with the games, Stellar Tera Type will not be exclusive to Terapagos. As seen in the report byPokébeach, the upcomingStellar Crownexpansion is already confirmed to introduce Stellar Sylveon ex and Stellar Ceruledge ex. These two Pokémon will be featured in precon decks via theStellar Miracleset in Japan and may eventually be adapted for the Western market with the release ofStellar Crown.

Not every card is immediately adapted from Japanese sets into their Western counterparts. ThreecutPokémon TCG: Twilight Masqueradecards, for instance, hinted at the release ofShrouded Fable.

As the release ofStellar Miraclein Japan approaches, more cards are bound to be showcased and, with this, players can know more or less what to expect fromStellar Crownonce it arrives in September. It’s been a busy year for the card game, asPokémon TCGnot only adapts what is shown in the current video games but also brings forth new and exclusive mechanics to potentially change the meta.
