In the years following the game’s release, the animated shorts became less common, despite being widelycelebrated among the community.

Although Overwatch 2 has had some shorts of its own, they’re not released nearly as often as they once were and Aaron Keller is looking to change that, along with finally getting an Overwatch series off the ground – something fans have waited years for.

An Overwatch 2 TV series has been a long time coming and fans were reportedly very close to getting one. According to journalist Jason Schreier, an Overwatch TV serieswas in the cards along with ones for Warcraft and Diablo, but that was canned after Blizzard sued Netflix for poaching CFO Spencer Neumann away from the company.

Netflix has notably had success with its animated versions of popular games withArcane, Castlevania and Cyberpunk Edgerunners being massive hits.

We’ll have to see what the future holds, but it’s clear that the devs have big plans for continuing Overwatch 2’s story through alternative mediums despite the actual story content for the game getting canned.
