Pokemon card reseller uses X-ray scan to prove $30K pack contains Shadowless Charizard
A Pokemon card reseller is turning heads with an unusual tactic to justify a $30,000 price tag by using X-ray tech to prove there’s a Shadowless Charizard inside a sealed pack.

In the video, the YouTuber highlighted a recent case study conducted by Industrial Inspection & Consulting, which has now become a major talking point among trading card collectors.
Now, an eBay seller has started using CT scans as proof that their packs contain one of the rarest cards you can get your hands on.

The eBay seller, operating under the username ‘restoreyouredatsun,’ claims to have used a CT scanning service to peek inside unopened Base Set booster packs from 1999. In one of those packs, they say the scan revealed the silhouette of a Charizard card, one of the most iconic and valuable cards in the entirePokemon TCG.
“Guaranteed shadowless Charizard inside this pack,” thelistingreads.
“I just used the CT scanning service from industrial-inspection on a couple of my heavy booster packs and discovered a Charizard in one of them.”
The pack, listed in June 2025 for $30,000, is marked as “short crimp” and “confirmed shadowless,” both traits consistent with the earliest print runs of Pokemon cards. The seller notes the cards were originally purchased from someone who owned part of an old booster box back in 2020.

According to the listing, buyers must either pick up the pack in person or arrange special shipping, emphasizing the value and rarity of the sealed item.
The seller also has another CT-scanned pack, this one allegedlycontaining a Raichu, listed for $3,800. While nowhere near the same hype level as Charizard, it still fetches a hefty price for a single unopened booster.
Shadowless Charizard cards are among the holy grails of Pokemon collecting. A First Edition PSA 10 version of the card hasfetched up to $420,000 at auction, and even ungraded versions can sell for thousands depending on condition.
Using CT scans to authenticate cards inside sealed remains controversial in the trading card community. Some collectors praise the tech for reducing risk, while others argue it undermines the thrill of the unknown.
Still, with vintage Pokemon prices climbing and sealed products becoming scarcer, sellers are turning to more extreme and high-tech methods to back up their claims.
