Taylor Sheridan’s most underrated series could continue with this 1923 Season 2 character
Once 1923 Season 2 is over, there’s definitely an opportunity for another season ofTaylor Sheridan‘s underratedWestern show, Lawmen.
1923 is busy right now trying to keep the Dutton Ranch afloat and reunite some of its best characters. But this is Taylor Sheridan, and there’s plenty of otherTV showsunder his belt.
One of them is the underrated historical seriesLawmen, which kicked off with its first season, Bass Reeves, in 2023. Intended as an anthology series (nota Yellowstone spinoff, mind you), the first season focused on the famous real-life U.S. Deputy Marshal Bass Reeves, who is said to be the inspiration for the Lone Ranger.
There’s been no word of another season yet, but thanks to one of 1923’s new characters, we know exactly who it should be about.
Taylor Sheridan Lawmen series could focus on Mamie Fossett
1923 Season 2 Episode 2introducedMamie Fossett, played by Jennifer Carpenter. Based on the real-life U.S. Deputy Marshal, she’s a force to be reckoned with.
When she’s first introduced, she’s getting an earful from Marshal Kent, who clearly doesn’t believe a woman is capable of the job. But she shuts him down, and inEpisode 3, she stumbles across the site of the Comanche camp he attacked.
From this point on, it looks as though she may thankfully become another obstacle for him in his pursuit of Teonna.
All this makes her one of the best new characters in the Yellowstone spinoff, and a great contender to be the next subject of another Lawmen series. Her journey to earning her badge and manoeuvring through a male-dominated West would make for an exciting installment, and fans have clearly already grown fond of her.

“TS did Bass Reeves, so there’s precedent there. I’m really enjoying Jennifer Carpenter’s depiction of Marshal Fossett to date. It’s perhaps the one nice surprise for me IRT 1923,” saidone Reddit user.
Another agreed, adding, “I’m in. She looks pisssed about all the wanton killings of the natives by the other marshal. I hope she gets a showdown with him.”
“She’s my favorite now,” another wrote. “Loved her in Dexter, I hope she gets more time on the show or a spin-off.”
