Summary

Visionis one of Marvel’s quickest-thinking heroes, and his recent encounter with the vampiric Bloodcoven has revealed the android’s perfect counter for psychic attacks. The coven bested the Avengers at the beginning ofBlood Hunt, but round two ends differently as Vision prevents Megrim from getting ahold of his mind by rapidly cycling his brain waves. The tactic could be repurposed to handle theX-Men’stelepaths or any other psychic powers.

InBlood Hunt #2: Red Band Edition- by Jed MacKay, Pepe Larraz, Marte Gracia, and Cory Petit - the Avengers take a second shot at the Bloodcoven. Vampires have taken over the Impossible City andtaken out half the Avengers teamthanks to psychic interference from Megrim, a key figure in the attack.

Vision thwarts Megrim’s psychic attack and carries the vampire up into space.

Since Vision’s brain patterns are so similar to those of a human being, Megrim’s abilities even worked on the android previously - a weakness Vision has now overcome.By rapidly cycling brain patterns, Vision’s mind is impossible to pin down, making him immune to all psychic attacks- and giving him a chance to remove Megrim from the playing field.

No Telepath Stands a Chance

Blood Hunt#1 showed just how fierce the Bloodcoven truly is, as they handily defeated the Avengers when they had the element of surprise on their side. However, there’s a reason the Avengers are known as the world’s greatest defenders. When the world is in danger, they dig as deeply as needed and few are as strategically minded as Vision, who is able to access incredible amounts of information and filter it through an already powerful synthezoid body. Megrim’s tactic and psychic assault worked once, but not taking out Vision completely gave him time to recover and, more importantly, plan.

Most psychic assaults, including those wielded by X-Mentelepaths like Emma Frostor Jean Grey, necessitate gaining access to the target’s mind. Someone whose thoughts move too quickly or detects the meddling and resists stands a chance of locking them out, but Vision took things a step further. By rapidly swapping his brain patterns, he essentially forces Megrim to attempt an attack on multiple ever-changing “minds” at once - an impossible feat even for the strongest telepaths out there. They cannot influence someone they can’t lock onto, which grants Vision the window to remove one of the Bloodcoven’s strongest players.

The Vampires Won’t Win Another Victory so Easily

Should a new Avengers vs. X-Men showdown occur,Vision could emergeas a key figure in handling telepathic attacks. With the entire world plunged into darkness and filled with vampires, however, they all have the same goal: bring back the sun and get rid of the blood drinkers. The android demonstrates that he can neutralize potential mental interference, freeing up fellow teammates Captain Marvel, Captain America, and any additional allies, to focus their efforts on the other vampires.Vision’spsychic repellant is strong enough to lock out theX-Men’stelepaths, but luckily they’re all hunting vampires on the same side.
