Reginald Says He Adopted Six Children In The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Teaser Trailer
The original Umbrella Academy team was formed with seven adopted children with extraordinary abilities, and so was the Sparrow Academy.
At the beginning of the teaser trailer forThe Umbrella Academyseason 4, there’s a voiceover by Reginald where he explains the world is changing, and there are people with abilities that go beyond the ordinary.Reginald then announces he has adopted six children with incredible abilitiesfor the inaugural class of the Umbrella Academy, and while at first this could be interpreted as a flashback to the formation of the Umbrella team before season 1, there’s one important detail that debunks this: Hargreeves says he adopted six children.

The original Umbrella Academy team was formed with seven adopted children with extraordinary abilities, though they became a team of six after Ben’s death and then of five when Five traveled through time and couldn’t come back. The Sparrow Academy, from an alternate timeline where Reginald adopted children different from the Umbrellas (except Ben, who he didn’t know was once part of the team), also had seven members. Season 3 revealedthe reason Reginald adopted seven childrenon both occasions was because that’s the number he needed to power the machine in Hotel Oblivion that would allow him to reset the timeline.
Reginald saying he has adopted six children points to him creating another Umbrella Academy team, and as this is a new timeline, it would be the inaugural class, even if the members of the original one are in this timeline (and this Reginald is the one who created the Sparrow Academy) – however, the reasons for creating a new team can vary, but it could be motivated by a tragedy.

The New Umbrella Academy Having Six Members Hints At Tragedy In Season 4
The Umbrella Academy As We Know It Might Not Survive Season 4
The Umbrellas are now eight, as Sparrow Ben and Lila have joined the team, so if Reginald’s team has six members, that could point to a tragic ending for two of them.
There’s a possibility that Reginald isn’t creating a new team with six children who haven’t been previously introduced, and instead, he’s(re)adopting the members of the original Umbrella Academyto make the first class of this timeline. The problem with that is that the Umbrellas are now eight, as Sparrow Ben and Lila have joined the team, so if Reginald’s team has six members, that could point to a tragic ending for two of the Umbrellas.

There are theories about Viktor, Klaus, and/or Allison dyinginThe Umbrella Academyseason 4 for different reasons: Viktor because he has usually been the one willing to sacrifice himself for his family, Klaus because of his past experiences with death, and Allison as part of her redemption. However,it’s also possible that they will all survive but only six will agree to joinReginald’s team, but regardless of who is part of Reginald’s newUmbrella Academyteam, the biggest question is why he’s forming a new team again.
The Umbrella Academy
The Umbrella Academy is based on the comic book of the same name created by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá. The Hargreeves — collectively known as The Umbrella Academy — were born with superpowers, and their adoptive father utilized their abilities. However, as they grew older, the siblings grew apart as they dealt with their trauma. They are brought back together after their father dies and Five returns from the future with grave news: The world will end, and The Umbrella Academy has to stop it before it happens.
