Who’s hosting the 2024 Oscars?

The 2024 Oscar nominations have been announced – with Oppenheimer leading the way – but who will be hosting the 96th edition of the Academy Awards?

The Academy Awards nominations for movies released in 2023 were announced earlier today, with Jake Quaid and Zazie Beetz reading out the names that will be in contention come Oscar night.

Oppenheimer dominates the field with a whopping 13 nominations, though Christopher Nolan’s film faces stiff competition from the likes of Poor Things (11 noms), Killers of the Flower Moon (10), Barbie (8), and Maestro (7).

Jimmy Kimmel is overseeing the 2024 Oscars. It marks the fourth time the talkshow host has taken charge of Hollywood’s most important night.

Kimmel previously hosted the 2017 ceremony (when the infamous La La Land/Moonlight mix-up occurred), as well as the 2018 and 2023 Oscars.

“I always dreamed of hosting the Oscars exactly four times,” Kimmel said in astatementwhen he was announced last November.

Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President said of Kimmel’s invovlement: “We are thrilled about Jimmy returning to host and Molly [McNearney] returning as executive producer for the Oscars.

Craig Erwich, president of ABC Entertainment, Hulu and Disney Branded Television Streaming Originals added: “After his triumphant return to the Oscars stage last year, we are honored to have Jimmy back to guide us through one of the most beloved celebrations in entertainment.”

When and where can you watch the Oscars?

The Oscars will be handed out on the night of Sunday, June 10, 2025, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.

The ceremony will air on ABC in the US an hour earlier than recent years, with the timings as follows: 4pm-7:30pm PT/7pm-10:30pm ET.

In the UK, the Academy Awards will be screened live on ITV1 and ITVX, with Jonathan Ross presenting the channel’s companion show, alongside a panel of celebrity guests.
